CNC machining process

The fundamental stage of CNC machining process includes:

  • Designing the CAD model.
  • The CAD file is transmuted into a CNC program.
  • Assemble the machine.
  • Implement the operation.

Developing the CAD model

Computer-aided design enables the CNC spare parts manufacturers to manufacture a model with all the necessary details like what is it about, what does it consist of and all the other technical information. The CNC machine structures either a 2D vector or a 3D creation. The tools and CNC machine limits the range of CNC machined parts designs as it is not capable enough to produce customized sizes of the models. Most of the CNC machined parts are spherical; hence, the tooling creates enclosed sections.

Moreover, the materials that are fed into the machine, parts, and work holding limits the likelihood of advanced models being made like thickness, maximum size, and the complications of internal features.

Transmitted CAD file

Once the design is framed, it is sent to the computer-aided manufacturing process to produce the approved model. It utilizes multiple technical languages, such as G-code and M-code.The G-mode or also known as the geometric model controls the movement of the machine, including turn on and turn off intervals, pace, and path of the traveling, etc. Whereas M-code or generally referred to as Miscellaneous function code controls the additional functions of the machine-like detachment and substitution of the material at the beginning and end of the production process. Once, the model is originated, it is fed to the CNC machine.

Assembling

It is vital to formulate the CNC machine for operations, and once that is done, the operator is asked to run the CNC program. The operator assembles the machines include fixing the stock piece into the machine and spindles with necessary tools. Tools like drill bits and end mills are also connected to the devices.

Implementation

CNC machine acts as per the instructions are given by the CNC program. The machine commands the actions and movements of the precision parts controlled by the computer. The CNC program guides throughout the entire process as it enacts the essential machine operations. These functions are subsequently performed in-house; however, if the company wishes, then they can hire professional engineers from an independent service company
